Vol. 1

Sisters of the Sea is a photographic and film project that follows the lives and labour of a group of women seaweed farmers along the coast of Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. Working in close rhythm with the ocean, these women cultivate seaweed through shared knowledge, collective effort, and deep trust in the sea that sustains them. The project offers an intimate glimpse into their daily routines and sisterhood that emerges through their lives in and around the water.

The project ultimately functions both as a visual record and as a platform for visibility, foregrounding a shared female relationship with the ocean shaped by intimacy, resilience, and solidarity.
